An energy update for the Libra new moon October 2018
by Zoe Davis
On October 8th and 9th we have a new moon and sun in Libra, this new moon is squaring the planet Pluto which influences and releases toxicity. In this case we might see toxic habits being highlighted in the areas of health and relationships as well as work, business and ambitions. There will be a scaling back of where things have become complicated, confusing and unnecessary, and instead there will be an opportunity to tidy things up and choose what is simple.
New moons foretell new beginnings, new projects and new habits and this month we will be shown the structure of our habits and motivations, the good and the bad. This is an opportunity to consider what drives decision making processes and how to adopt a more active role in creating harmony in all areas especially those where people are working together.
Consider where you may be running on auto-pilot with unmonitored habits or assumptions rather than choosing what feels good and works for everyone if you simply allow flow.
Refrain from seeking or allowing over complication as its unsustainable, high maintenance and often inauthentic. If you catch yourself getting complicated or taking on more than you can handle, stop yourself mid-thought, breathe, take a step back and hand it over. Decide to choose joy and allow the opportunity for a simpler version to appear.
This is a great time to get back to choosing simple, simple thoughts, simple pleasures, simple foods, simple living, simple needs, simple activities, simple plans that allow spontaneity and simple easy relationships.
When it comes to health choosing simple foods for most meals will keep the body light and the mind stable. Look after yourself by listening to the body and not relentlessly pushing ahead. Indulging in rich foods or excess alcohol, in fact any extremes will be a great disservice to the body at this time. This moon may initiate clearing acute or chronic toxicity that may be affecting the body, thoughts and emotions. You might like to do a detox or you can merely open up to being guided toward healthier habits that are clean, nourishing and sustainable. In fact focusing on detoxification could become toxic in itself, the goal is to find a balance within what feels good and what is good for you.
Warmth and kindness will draw in supporters, look out for negative beliefs around thinking you have to do, or be, something special to get love and support. The truth is we get love and support as soon as we believe we have it. It’s okay to let go of toughing it out, allowing vulnerability will show where the support is needed, be open to letting that support in.
Many will be releasing old heavy energies this month, and those who aren’t doing the work on themselves will be looking for ways to justify their toxic methods. Try to not take others bad behaviour personally, take a step back and recognise you are witnessing a pattern that needs to change. The most you can do is give others the space to take responsibility for themselves and be there to help them when they need it.
Lastly, Venus goes retrograde in Scorpio just before this new moon until mid November. This is quite a potent transit and may bring up past relationships, partners and friends. We actually had this same transit at the almost exact time of year in 2010, so consider what was happening then that you can do different today. The gift here is of getting to look into ourselves and our relationships with the luxury of hindsight. Use this time to clear your heart and look squarely at the shadow parts and give them the love and light they need so you can be whole. Loads of self love is needed during Venus retrogrades, don’t hold back!
